IMG_E1388Since  April we have had a new Chairman and a new venue for our Circle, so it is time  we introduced ourselves.

Our new Chairman is Howard Smith, a relatively new member of the Circle.  He moved to Cheltenham in mid 2018 and has since become involved in several local groups  He has been writing intermittently over the years in a variety of forms, short fiction, poetry and drama and has recently had a piece accepted for performance on local radio, which he credits to the support and guidance of the Circle.

We also have a new venue, the upstairs Function Room at the Tivoli at the corner of  Suffolk Street and Andover Road, pictured above, not far from our old venue in Lypiatt Terrace.  Meeting in a pub carries the added attraction that we can chat informally at the bar after we have finished our literary discussions.  We are meeting here on alternate Mondays, as before, at 7.30.  The dates for our meetings are on the Diary page of this site.

Besides Howard’s success with local radio Annie Ellis has had her first online poem, titled ‘Dear Anne Boleyn’, published in the May issue of Snakeskin Press and a second poem has been accepted for the next issue of ‘Dawntreader’ magazine.Annie

Christine Griffin has won 3rd prize at the Evesham Festival for her short story ‘Curtains’ and Ed James was on stage at the Hawkesbury Upton Festival talkingbabout his book ‘The Frozen Dream’.
